“From the bottom of our hearts and souls, we truly believe in our mission to demonstrate that there is a way to find a balance between our values and our feminine passion for style!”
-Jill Spiritus, Co-Founder/Compassion Couture
The ladies from Compassion Couture are taking a fashion-forward approach towards living an ethical lifestyle. I love decadent, vegan fashion and it’s so nice to know that these fearless women are curating the perfect collection of brands that are all 100% animal cruelty free. They only offer products by labels that place a strong emphasis on producing their goods in a sustainable and ethical way. Compassion Couture was started by New York based sisters, Jill and Tracey Spiritus, in September of 2011 in the hopes of bringing high fashion, vegan/eco-friendly handbags, shoes and accessories to the mainstream. Each of the items in their online boutique are hand picked by both sisters and are some of my favorite Vegan brands in existence.
Compassion Couture’s overall mission is to prove that you don’t have to sacrifice your sense of style for your values. They currently carry brands such as Cri De Coeur, Olsenhaus, Reveal, Gunas, Beyond Skin and so many more. The site is super user-friendly and informative with very detailed descriptions of each product. There is also an entire section devoted to the backstory on each of the brands they carry.
In more recent news, Compassion Couture has teamed up with Cornelia Guest, one of the most stylish leaders in activism, philanthropy and business. Jill and Tracey have added a page solely dedicated to Cornelia Guest’s personal favorite handbag, shoe and accessory picks from Compassion Couture and a portion of the proceeds from “Cornelia’s Picks for a Cause” will go directly towards Farm Sanctuary, a non-profit organization supporting animal rescue, education & advocacy. I am such a huge fan of Cornelia Guest and I’m completely in love with her style. Her line of handbags, some of which are carried by Compassion Couture, are so stylish and luxurious without the luxury pricetags. Each piece ranges from $39-$289 and are created from organic cottons, wood, faux leathers and recyclable PVC.
The vegan leather seen in most of the bags and shoes on Compassion Couture comes in so many trendy and classic styles. There is truly something for every woman. I have high hopes that eco sustainable, animal friendly and toxin free companies and products will soon be the norm! I guess I can expect Michelle Pfeiffer to be carrying the hottest vegan accessories soon enough. My personal favorites from CC are shown in this article. I need to own the Reveal “Audrey” IPad purse and the Olsenhaus “Egypt” sandals so badly.
If you happen to be in Manhattan or you’re a New York City resident you can check out their very first Sample Sale this weekend in Soho!
