I can’t believe it is 2011 already. This year flew by. I have been so busy the past few weeks. I don’t know if I shared with you all that I taught my first university class this past quarter. I taught an undergraduate course in behavior disorders in childhood. It was a lot of fun, but a lot of work. Finals week was the second week of December and grades were due the following week. Then my family took turns having the flu. We were down for the count for about a week and a half. Then with Christmas preparations, I haven’t had any time to post:(
I hope everybody had an awesome holiday season. We really did have a lot of fun. I ate a ton of great food, got awesome presents, and best of all got to spend time with my son, doing fun things. We went to the snow and he learned to snowboard, we went hiking, we got to have a dinner date, and we watched lot’s of holiday movies. It was so awesome.
Anyway, for Christmas I got those great Garmont Vegan Hiking Boots that I posted about a couple of months ago. I tried them out last Thursday and they were so totally comfortable and awesome. They are a tad wide, so I had to be sure to tighten them well to avoid slippage going hill. Once tightened they were perfect.
Not everyone loves Uggs, but I was a huge fan. I grew up in a beach community and we have been wearing Uggs long before they became popular. Unfortunately, though incredibly warm, Uggs are not animal-friendly. What are animal-friendly, are awesome Skecher Keepsake Boiling Point boots, made of microfiber and faux fur lining. My brother got me a pair for Christmas and they keep my feet toasty warm. After spending the day in the snow, I slipped these boots on my feet and my feet were in heaven.
Christmas was all about new shoes for me, because I also got these awesome Croft and Barrow Jackie Tall Boots for Christmas (actually Christmas Eve, I needed something cute to wear to Mass). I love these boots. They were unbelievably comfortable right out of the box.
I also awesome St. John’s Bay 4-in-1 coat to wear to the snow. My son’s birthday is a couple of weeks away and we will be going back to the snow. This time, I will be taking snowboarding lessons myself and cannot wait to try this jacket out.
We are gathering items and training for a backpacking trip, so I also got a great sleeping bag, thermals, hiking socks, and a headlamp (so maybe, I shouldn’t admit to that one on a fashion blog). The sleeping bag only weighs 3 lbs and packs up very small. I am way excited to give it a try. Now, it just needs to stop raining nonstop. I’m not so worried about the cold, but I’m not too excited about major rainstorms, of which we have had more than enough here in California. We are not used to so much rain, and I am beginning to get a bit tired of it.
Now that the holidays are over, it is time to begin a post-holiday cleanse. I was supposed to start today, but there was fresh salsa at my mother’s and this is my total weakness. Okay, so the salsa wasn’t so much a big deal, as were the chips that I dipped into it. Otherwise, I ate broccoli, garlic, apples, and carrots today. I am aiming for two weeks of nothing but fruits and vegetables, with most of them being in their raw form. I will then begin adding some other raw foods, and adding small amounts of cooked food. Anyone else doing a cleanse? I’d love to hear from those who are, to read about what types of cleanse you are doing.
